Blue by nature, green at heart

BAC brings clean safe water to children of Kyeni Primary School.

We are pleased to announce that the Just a Drop project for the 303 children of the Kyeni Primary school in Kenya makes very good progress. The rain water tank is ready and the children are so happy with it. Access to safe water all year long, makes a big difference in these children’s daily life. Now the hygiene education can start.
At BAC we believe that water is at the core of sustainable development and cooling.

Fundraising activities for Just a Drop projects

The Just a Drop projects in India and Kenya supported by BAC are making good progress. In the Kyeni Primary school they finished with the construction of the rain harvesting tank. In Kudo they drilled the community borehole and provided the water storage tank of 40.000 liters. They started with the construction of a check dam, which will reduce the risk of the water supply going dry during upcoming droughts. So-called WASH trainings are ongoing with regard to water, sanitation and hygiene.

All BAC employees around the world are organizing fundraising activities to fund all the needed works for our 3 selected Just a Drop projects: Kyeni Primary School (Kenya), Kudo Village (India) and El Roblar (Nicaragua). Very creative activities to raise money are popping up in our BAC factories and offices: Car wash, raffles, World Cup bidding, second-hand sales, selling of water bottles and sustainable vegetable /fruit bags, fund raising dinners supported by local restaurant, donations,…

At BAC we are all committed to contributing to the availability of clean and safe water to communities worldwide. As a leading company in the development of evaporative cooling products, we believe that water is at the core of sustainable cooling and development.

BAC Receives Honorable Mention for Three AHR Expo Innovation Awards

Baltimore Aircoil Company (BAC) has been recognized with a record three honorable mentions in 2016 AHR Expo Innovation Award categories. These categories include Green Building, Cooling and Refrigeration.

In the Green Building category, the PFi Closed Circuit Cooling Tower won honorable mention by offering customers the combination of direct and indirect heat transfer enhancing thermal efficiency by 30% or more. This engineered concept increases performance while enhancing the unit’s reliability for year-round operation. The PFi has the lowest installed cost compared to other counterflow closed circuit cooling towers due to a combination of the lowest weight, fan horsepower, and smallest footprint. It also features the lowest total cost of ownership with Extreme Efficiency models (XE Models) that reduce operating costs by up to 50%. This is all with the peace of mind that each PFi is CTI-Eurovent Certified for water and glycol for guaranteed performance.

In the Cooling category, the New Series 3000 Cooling Tower won honorable mention.
In the Refrigeratin category the TrilliumSeries™ Condenser for Transcritical CO2 Applications received honorable mention.

Cradle to Cradle certificate for zinc coating.

BAC makes great effort to work with suppliers that are also committed to sustainability. The Belgian plant therefore announces with pleasure that its supplier of zinc coatings for coils, Galva Power achieved the Bronze Cradle to Cradle certificate from the American Cradle to Cradle Institute. The Cradle to Cradle Certified™ Product Standard guides designers and manufacturers through a continuous product improvement process, checking five quality categories: material health, material re-utilization, renewable energy and carbon management, water stewardship, and social fairness. Galvanization protects steel structures against corrosion, making them last longer, and at the end of the service life, the steel construction can be completely recycled.

Learn more about the mandatory energy-audit for large enterprises in Europe.

The European Energy Efficiency Directive 2012/27/EU requires that every enterprise that is not an SME (small and medium enterprise) needs to have a valid energy audit by December 2015. The audit will assess the existing energy consumption and identify the whole range of possibilities to save energy. This should then result in proposals of well-defined energy saving measures. To obtain compliance with this environmental legislation the results of the energy audit must be officially registered and updated every 4 years.

This energy audit is part of the binding measures established by the Energy Efficiency Directive to help the EU reach its 20% energy efficiency target by 2020.

On October 27 Agoria, the Belgian federation for the technology industry, hosts an event sharing best practices with regard to energy savings both for buildings and industrial processes and demonstrating how to register the results of the energy audit.

BAC supports this event and will be present to advice on how evaporative cooling and the BAC solutions can help large enterprises save energy.
