An important part of our sustainability mission relates to our products. Our equipment are found in buildings to keep people comfortable, supermarket and cold storage warehouses to protect food and perishables, and industrial processes and power installations to improve efficiency and productivity. We are passionate about enhancing the quality of life through our technologies.

Our products offer many sustainable characteristics.

Energy efficiencyEnduradrive fan system

The rising costs of energy and the drive to be green are resulting in greater demand for energy efficiency and energy conservation. The energy savings potential of evaporative cooling makes it attractive for use, in particular for larger cooling needs. Evaporative cooling uses water for the cooling process. Water has a higher heat capacity than air, so it is able to carry more heat per unit mass than air. Energy consumed by an HVAC system may account for up to 50% of a facility’s total electricity consumption. Switching to water cooled system reduces energy usage by 30%. Lower energy consumption reduces scope 2 greenhouse gas emissions, associated with electricity generation. FXV

Water saving

Our products use water which is a valuable resource and needs to be managed responsibly. In some regions, water efficiency and water savings become HXV-HXI hybrid cooling towerincreasingly important. To support our customers to meet their water management goals, we have developed special coatings as Baltibond® and TriArmor® that help increase the cycle of concentration and save up to 30% of water and chemicals. Further BAC has pioneered the development of water saving technology such as in our hybrid cooling towers. These utilize dry-wet operations resulting in reduced water consumption versus conventional evaporative cooling.

Natural refrigerantsCO2 TrilliumSeries condenser

BAC evaporative condensers are used in refrigeration systems at breweries, food processing plants, cold storage warehouses, and other places where evaporative condensing is required. The phasing out CFC-based refrigerants in some regions around the world, is boosting the use of ammonia, CO2 and hybrid refrigerant systems for versatile applications. Natural refrigerants like ammonia and CO2 have no ozone depletion potential and either no global warming potential or their global warming potential is negligibly low. Furthermore, these systems today operate with just the same energy efficiency as systems with synthetic refrigerants.

Recycled materials

BAC manufactures its equipment with up to two thirds recycled content. The materials include steel in structures, PVC for fill and piping, aluminum sheaves and copper windings in electric motors.

Sustainable buildings

BAC equipment may help earn green building credits. Green building rating systems such as BREEAM (United Kingdom) and LEED® (United States and Canada) help to determine a structure’s level of a building’s environmental performance. They award credits for optional building features that support green design. The number of credits generally determines the level of achievement. Utilizing BAC’s innovative evaporative cooling, ice thermal storage or water saving hybrid cooling equipment can help a building earn credits in different categories.
