It is estimated that by 2030 in Belgium alone 1 in 10 people will have diabetes, that's over 1 million people. Through participating in the Climbing for Life-weekend BAC helps to raise awareness for diabetes. The subscription fees were paid by BAC and early September 76 colleagues and partners from Belgium, Italy, Australia, China and the US took part in the Climbing for Life event held in the town of Gérardmer, located in the Vosges (France).

Together with over 3000 people nearly 95.000 euro was raised for diabetes by walking, running and biking across the “Balloons and Trails” of this mountain range. Those who participated were unanimous: "A wonderful weekend of sportive achievements and collegial togetherness. Not even the rainy weather could put a damper on it!"

This initiative fits well with BAC’s commitment to create a caring and safe environment for our people and our communities; which is one of our five sustainability commitments. And our commitment reached further than the Climbing for Life-weekend. Over the summer BAC employees organized various actions (a carwash, a bake sale, a salsa-workshop, a spinning class,...) to raise money for Kampka-D. This non-profit organization offers summer camps to children with diabetes. The raised sum was doubled by BAC management and Don Fetzer (BAC president) along with David Jacobs (Managing Director EMEA) handed over the cheque to the Kampka-D representatives.
